And then the panic sets in…

Standard

So lately I’ve been trying to control my life in any way possible. In my last post I wrote a bit about this last year and the stress I was under. I feel like my life is chaotic. I began reading “My Age of Anxiety” by Scott Stossel a few days ago, I ordered it online but amazon allows you to read the first 10 pages online when you order. I am trying to figure out my anxieties, especially since lots of things are changing, and will change even more over the next few months. I need to get my anxiety under control. This book reveals in a real time, case study what anxiety is, how it happens and the evolution of anxiety in the medical world in relation to medical treatments and diagnosis. I think I had a mild panic attack today. The Trigger was my student loans, my cost of books (which I have yet to buy), the work load of 3 classes that seems like 4 or 5, and getting lost on campus this morning. I splurged last night, I bought 2 pairs of boots (I haven’t bought new boots for anything other than work in over a year) and a new coat (the one I currently have is grease stained from work, so its my work coat). I overspent. Then this morning seeing my loans, seeing my cost of books, and thinking about upcoming changes put me over the edge. Cleaning saved me, I have some OCD about organization and cleaning, so I cleaned and organized my closet, car, and desk. It didn’t really help, so I forced Jango to cuddle. It worked. I’m calm.  Dogs seem to help my anxieties, well at least they distract me for a temporary time. Focusing on them keeps me functioning.

So let’s focus on some adoptable dogs/cats I am trying to get into perfect forever homes!

Jenne- Tallahassee Pets Alive

Jenne is a beautiful black kitty! She is such a little love bug!!! She loves being petted and she loves to cuddle!! She is fully vetted and waiting for her forever home! Her adoption fee is only $50 (which doesn’t even cover the cost of her vetting!). She has the most gorgeous, soft, black coat of any cat I’ve ever met! If you’re interested in meeting Jenne email diana at dianak.care@gmail.com!!!!

Kelli- Aussie and Me
Kelli has been with Aussie and Me for over a year. She still is waiting patiently for her forever home. Kelli is a 3 year old purebred Australian Shepherd that does have special needs, she has vision issues, and sometimes spins in circles when she is stressed. She has had a rough ride, and now that she is in a FABULOUS foster home she is doing amazing. She is looking for a perfect home, a home with a warm couch, a doggie brother/sister (or a few), and someone who can love her unconditionally. Here is a link to more photos of Kelli. Can you help Kelli find a forever home? Just share that link to her photos on FB, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media sites. Share this post, or send an email to a friend who might want to adopt!

Kitty (Bacall)- Tallahassee Pets Alive

Kitty (Renamed Bacall- but I still call her Kitty the Pitty), was found on Thanksgiving day roaming around Tom Brown Park all alone and in pretty bad shape, a good samaritan was able to get her the shelter, she had no chip and no where to go. We were able to help Kitty, she is fully vetted, HW negative, and she is on her way to getting healthy!!! She is very thankful that Good Samaritan Tabitha found her and got her saved. Kitty is currently in boarding, she is in need of a foster or forever home!!! If you would like more info on Kitty please email diana at dianak.care@gmail.com !!!!

Trixie- Courtesy Post

Trixie is a Chi/Dachshund mix, 6-8 years old, and special needs. She has to wear a diaper because she was overbred and neglected. She now can’t hold her bladder. She is quite an amazing dog, despite the trauma she has endured (including being ABANDONED TWICE!) she is so docile, so loving, and looking for her retirement home. She is currently in a foster home with several other dogs, she gets along with them as long as they are not too “in your face” with her. As long as dogs respect her space, she is great with them. She is a lone wolf, she doesn’t need a leash when she is roaming the yard, she sticks by the nearest human. She is VERY loyal and loves to keep your lap warm. If you’re looking for a calm, loyal, senior companion dog this girl is for you! She is not through a rescue, she was abandoned, luckily her foster didn’t take her to a shelter. Please contact Samantha at Jsparks1307@gmail.com for more info on Trixie!

Patches- Tallahassee Pets Alive

Patches is a very special dog, in need of a forever home! She is a Hound mix, weighing about 42 lbs, and she is still very much a puppy, we think she is between 1-2 years old. She is super cute, and treat motivated! Patches is deaf, so she is currently learning hand signals. She is VERY SMART, and she knows she deserves a great, fun, loving forever home! Patches LOVES other dogs, and she has never met a stranger that she didn’t like!! She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. She spent a night with us last week and it was quite an adventure, she has never seen a TV, so it startled her to see people in the living room, in a big black box, and she couldn’t sniff them. She LOVES couches, she loves to cuddle and she loved Missy, Pancho, and Jango (Jango loves her!). Patches went to daycare last friday and had a blast!!! If you are interested in meeting perfect companion patches please email dianak.care@gmail.com for more info!

Amelia- Last Hope Rescue Florida

GOLDEN EYED Amelia is so sweet! We saw her this weekend at the adoption booth at Naturally Healthy Pet! Here is what Last Hope wrote about Amelia: “Amelia is a Doberman mix, born in March 2013. Amelia is timid and shy, but will warm up to you once she learns you are loving & patient! Amelia is a sweet girl, and very well behaved. She loves to run and play outside with the other dogs, and comes when called! Amelia is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and micro-chipped. She is also house & crate trained as well. Her perfect home would be with a family who has another doggie sibling. Adoption fee is $125. If you are interested in showing this pup what the good life is all about, please email us at LastHopeRescueFL@gmail.com.” WE AGREE THAT SHE IS SUPER WELL BEHAVED! She was so good at the adoption event!

Missy- Tallahassee Pets Alive

If you zoom in on this picture you can see that Missy is balancing on her single back leg… Thats right, Missy only has 3 legs!!  Although Missy has 3 legs, it doesn’t slow her down!!! Missy is Hw+ and set to start treatment in January, however in the mean time I am trying to find her a phenomenal foster or forever home for her! She is quite the sweet heart, she takes a moment to warm up to you but once she does she is super cuddly!!!!  She has improved tremendously since she was surrendered by her elderly owner, it isn’t often I can say that an owner did the right thing by surrendering her but they did. Now that she is in boarding she is being socialized, cared for and loved on. She is a favorite among the vet techs for her calm, loving, and cuddly demeanor. If you are interested in meeting Missy please email dianak.care@gmail.com for more info.

Nox- Courtesy Post

Nox is a very cute male kitty who is searching for his forever home. He is amazing! He was so sweet, he loves to cuddle, and is very well behaved at events! Even though he is black, he is very LUCKY to be in a wonderful foster home, but as fantastic as his foster home is, he longs for his forever family. He wants to bond with them, cuddle in their lap and hang out with them! His foster mom Jamie is great, she has socialized him, litter trained him, and gotten him healthy! Email Jamie at jlb11@my.fsu.edu for more info on Nox!

Bogey- Last Hope Rescue Florida

Bogey is a  FUNNY MAN! Almost every picture was him sticking his tongue out, smiling, or playing with another dog!  He is  very sweet, energetic, and playful. He has been waiting for his forever home for a long time. They say the best homes take the longest to find, so his forever home must be FANTASTIC!! I know this guy has SOMEONE or some family out there that needs him, that want to love him unconditionally and spoil him like he deserves. He is good with people of all ages, and he would make a great running partner. Bogey would do best in a home with female dog(s) only.  Please consider being Bogey’s forever family, he has waited long enough. Email LHR at LastHopeRescueFL@gmail.com for more information on Bogey!

So while I think of all these dogs, the panic sets in. Why? Because Missy, Jenne, Patches and Kitty need foster homes. They NEED them because Tallahassee Pets Alive can’t take on owner surrenders, shelter dogs, or cats without these 3 going into foster homes. That worries me, these dogs deserve foster homes, and more than that they deserve forever homes. Until these babies have foster or forever homes TPA can’t help any more dogs/cats. If you can help Tallahassee Pets Alive by providing one of these animals with a foster home please email Diana at dianak.care@gmail.com. We have a co-foster program that allows you to foster on the weekends, try it out, see if fostering is for you!!!
